Bubble Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (Bubble CPAP) supports premature babies' lung development by delivering airflow and pressure through nasal prongs. The system generates pressure as air flows into a water canister, producing bubbling sounds when functioning correctly.
Currently, healthcare workers rely on these sounds to assess system performance, but the bubbles hold even more valuable insights. We aim to go beyond simple auditory checks by quantifying these sounds to provide real-time feedback on system pressure, leaks, and potentially even the baby’s lung function and response to therapy.
By collecting and analyzing acoustic data, we are developing models to decode the relationship between bubbling patterns, system setup, and lung health. Our ultimate goal is to transform these insights into digital tools that convert sound into actionable metrics—delivering real-time diagnostics, alerts, and personalized treatment guidance.
